Democracy isn't majority rule;
it means freedom and equality for all
Equijoin is a company dedicated to advancing sustainability, equality, and trust between humans. Open source and more broadly, the open movement can enable individual autonomy by providing networks that revitalize cooperation in human society. Empowering individuals and small communities to create their own life-sustaining businesses can rebuild the foundations of trust that have diminished through systemic forces that aim to label and divide us. Replacing corporate dependencies with individuals and small businesses that have a soul and value system incentivizes compassion, innovation, and most importantly tolerance.
Equijoin has two main areas of work; Data and developer experience consulting for us to sustain our employees, and educating future generations along with the currently disenfranchised to build small local economic alternatives for consumers as hubs using open source goods, services, and shared knowledge with intent to distribute power through pluralist non-violent economic action.

Equijoin was born from open data communities, specifically Trino and Apache Iceberg communities. The past decade has increased in the usage of a new wave of artificial intelligence (AI) that relies on massive amounts of data. AI wouldn't be possible without humans, and yet many corporations are deploying artificial intelligence as a means to replace their staff for shortsighted capital gain. Equijoin aims to consult the industry in how to ethically and efficiently manage and curate the information we develop to responsibly automate our most crucial human operating systems, trust and information networks.

Although the economic income and practice of developing our open source business models is crucial, the long-term vision of Equijoin is to aid in restructuring the flow of power and incentives through market disruption to organically distribute large hierarchical power structures. This may sound untenable, but a pattern is emerging across open source communities where open standards provide consistency and features that historically were only feasible when coordinated and funded through the largest and wealthiest businesses. As the internet evolved, however, it became increasingly possible to work remotely with other individuals and develop software with a much larger economies of scale than a single company can provide. This pluralist economy has slowly proven to develop better consumer-focused products.
Equijoin's long term aspirations will involve a balanced approach of public dialogue with people from a wide array of backgrounds, open knowledge curation and sharing, and crowd-sourced funding to bootstrap individuals that want to develop their own local distribution built on open goods or services.
